What we want
The science is clear. We need to halve greenhouse gas emissions by the end of the decade to avoid the most catastrophic impacts of climate change. This requires urgent action from government and business.
Insurance campaigning.
Put simply: without insurance, new fossil fuel projects can’t go ahead.
The Lloyd's of London marketplace insures some of the most damaging fossil fuel projects in the world, enabling companies to keep polluting our planet and harming our collective future.
Many European insurers have already stopped covering new coal, oil and gas projects. Yet Lloyd’s underwriters still provide cover for these polluting activities, against all the climate science.
We are calling on Lloyd’s insurers to rule out all new fossil fuel business, and develop a plan to quickly phase down support for existing coal, oil and gas projects.
Our work is also expanding to focus on the role of UK finance regulators in protecting British communities, and our economy, from the risks posed by insurers who continue to support new fossil fuels.
What Comes After The Flood - a Mothers Rise Up film.
Our first ever feature length documentary launched in summer 2026, directed by Charli Willow. ‘What Comes After The Flood’ follows the story of Tenbury Wells, a picturesque medieval town in central England. Now, after a series of devastating floods, it has been ominously labelled the ‘UK's first uninhabitable town.’ Not because life there is impossible, but because homes, businesses and even the town hall are now uninsurable.
Our film explores the profound yet underestimated impact the insurance industry has on our daily lives, our communities, and the future of our planet. You can watch the documentary and find out more about the surrounding campaign by visiting the film website here.
Oil and gas campaigning.
Every year the UK government spends billions supporting the fossil fuel industry through tax breaks and subsidies. We are calling on our government to:
> End support for dirty energy, and challenge the corrupting influence oil and gas lobbyists have on our political system.
> Kickstart a major drive for energy efficiency, and ramp up the expansion of clean, renewable energy and green transport.
> Support fossil fuel workers through the transition, and ensure low-income communities see the benefits of a green economy.
> Help ensure families across the world get the support they need to adapt to a changing climate, and rebuild their lives in the wake of climate disasters.
